Novel Ideas
A poem just for you!
I wish that I lived in a novel,
I wish that such glamour were mine,
To be young and sweet, with the world at my feet, And a hero who’s simply divine!
What joys we could share – what adventures, As the plot flew us up to cloud nine,
What a glorious treat when our lips got to meet, And our tremulous arms to entwine.
Yet what if my dreams are too reckless? There’s twists in a narrative line –
If it turned bittersweet, or involved cruel deceit, Could I cope with events so malign?
So perhaps I’ll just settle for humdrum,
A life lived by chance, not design,
With my plans in retreat I will firmly repeat, From fiction, I choose to resign! Maggie Ingall.
