Kitchen transformations

The room that changed the most was the kitchen, with the arrival of colourful plastic pedal bins, buckets, brooms and dustpans. Formica’s brightly coloured laminated plastic worktop, almost impossible to mark or stain, was seen as the product of the decade. Before long, Formica was so successful its name became part of our modern kitchen language.
