The Story So Far

CHARLOTTE (Charlie) MCLAUGHLIN is an events organiser at Anna Grace, a dilapidated country house hotel that is making a loss. The hotel was named after ANNA, the beloved wife of the first Mr Graystone.

The current owner, ROBIN GRAYSTONE, is assisted by Anna Grace’s PR consultant HARRIET, who wants to make the hotel a wedding venue. Charlie believes the way to change the hotel’s fortunes is to provide artists’ weekends, which Robin approves of.

KATARINA, the housekeeper who has worked there for some years, has suggested that Robin renovate some cottages on the estate and rent them out.

Charlie wants to learn about Anna, and begins to read her journals, which Robin’s uncle attempted to type up before WWII.

A teenage runaway called DEAN is found sleeping in the barn one day, and now helps out on the estate, while sleeping in one of the old cottages.

When GRANT THORNBERRY stays at the hotel one night, Charlie discovers his father owns some hotels along the coast.

One day, Charlie visits the church graveyard, where she finds the gravestones of several Graystones – but there is no Anna . . .
