A Helping Paw
Founded in 1983, Pets As Therapy (PAT) is a national charity that enhances the health and wellbeing of people of all ages in the community.
Volunteers work with their own pets in hospitals, hospices, nursing and care homes, day care centres and schools, bringing joy, comfort and companionship to many who appreciate being able to touch and stroke a friendly dog.
The therapeutic visits also improve the lives of people suffering from debilitating mental and physical conditions, and raise literacy levels in children by developing their confidence, interest and enjoyment in reading.
