■ Dundee is Scotland’s fourth-largest city with a population of around 150,000. It’s also Scotland’s sunniest, and has the fewest rainy days per year at 124.
■ Dundee is also the birthplace of the “Beano”, “The Dandy” and home of Oor Wullie. During World War II, the “Beano” and “The Dandy” were published on alternate weeks due to paper and ink rationing.
■ J.A. Braithwaite’s, Dundee’s oldest shop, opened in 1868 and today sells more than 100 different teas and 30 different coffees.
■ Dundee’s V&A is the first-ever dedicated design museum in Scotland and the first V&A anywhere in the world outside London. Its design is intended to echo the famous cliffs of the east coast.
