A Pain In The Neck?
Physiotherapist Phil Evans from urbanbody.co.uk gives his recommendations for avoiding shoulder and neck pain:
Wear soft, well-fitted shoes or trainers around the house to absorb shock
Adjust your desk so your computer is at eye level
Never sit for more than 20 mins at a time (sitting multiplies the pressure on your spine by 10 compared to standing)
Avoid reading for more than 20 minutes in bed (this increases tension in neck muscles when they are tired at the end of the day)
Never sleep on your stomach (it twists your neck and shoulders)
Use a backpack with weight evenly distributed on both straps, not a one-shoulder handbag
