Frying-pan Cheese and Tomato Toastie
Course: lunch Skill level: easy Serves: 2
25 g (1 oz) butter
4 slices of stale bread
Your choice of cheese – whatever you’ve got in the fridge: Cheddar, mozzarella, gouda etc.
Your favourite Isle of Wight tomatoes, sliced Optional: ham, salami, chutney etc.
1 Butter the bread and arrange the cheese, tomato and other ingredients over half of the slices, buttered side down.
2 Pre-heat a frying-pan and cook the sandwiches for 2 minutes on each side. They’re ready when you see a golden brown colour on the bread and melted cheese.
