Plant garlic and onions for next year. I’ve also been growing perennial “Elephant Garlic”, which is an extraordin­ary vegetable. You don’t plant this until October or November, but if you leave it in the soil the following year, it’ll clump out and create a thicket of Elephant Garlic. From then on, dig up the largest plants but leave the rest in the soil. They’ll swell up to create a bigger clump, meaning you’ll always have some Elephant Garlic to harvest.
