The People's Friend

Star Letter

-

I enjoyed the story in the June 26 issue about a couple who made a new start on the island of Tiree in the Hebrides.

A few years ago, my husband and I had a wonderful tour of the Hebrides, crossing from Tobermory and travelling from Eriskay to Lewis with many lovely happenings on the way, like meeting old friends and watching seals at the Butt of Lewis.

One day we took the ferry across to Tiree and, like Jason and Yvonne in your article, fell in love with it and seriously considered retiring there and perhaps running a little guest-house.

The people are incredibly welcoming and hospitable.

After some daydreaming, we finally realised our far-flung family would seldom manage to see us so, reluctantly, gave up the idea. We’ll always have a soft spot for Tiree, though.

We wish Jason and Yvonne all the very best in their new venture.

Mrs D.C., Richmond.
