Only 5,999 of these coins have been produced and they will attract considerable interest, not just from collectors: • The world’s first coin of its kind, minted from Platinum-gold: solid 22 carat gold with 2 carats of pure platinum (i.e. 91.67% gold and 8.33% platinum). Sovereigns are customarily minted from 22 carat gold with 2 carats of copper (added for strength). However, with 2 carats of Platinum these new coins are the most valuable 22 carat gold alloy ever used for the production of gold sovereigns. Platinum-gold has been used in honour of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee and has never before been used in the minting of sovereign coins The design features Her Majesty’s royal cypher and is struck to Proof standards, the highest possible quality, as a collectors item The coin is housed in a luxury presentation case with certificate of authenticity making it an ideal keepsake or family heirloom The great popularity of the Platinum Jubilee, coupled with the low mintage of just 5,999 coins, means that demand may well exceed supply.
