Change of location for spring fair

-

AN annual fair has been moved from its normal site because of heavy rain.

The Chatteris Spring Fun Fair was due to arrive and set up in Wenny Road Recreation Ground yesterday, ready to be opened to the public at the weekend.

However, because of the amount of rain that has fallen in the area over the past month, making the ground unsuitable for heavy vehicles, it has been decided by Fenland District Council and Chatteris Town Council to resite the fair at Furrowfields Car Park, Furrowfields Road, Chatteris.

Additional space will also be required for a few residential caravans and organisers have set aside an area of the small car park opposite the fair site for these vehicles.

A spokesman said the relocation of the caravans would ensure that the fair can still take place and be enjoyed by the residents of Chatteris this year.

It is proposed the mobile gym facility will be moved on Thursday May 10 to the car park off Wood Street in Chatteris.

Fenland District Council have apologised for any inconvenience caused to regular users of the car parks affected by the changes to the arrangements.

The spring fair will be open from Thursday, May 10 until Saturday, May 12.
