OBA online memories

-

TEACHERS moving into a new multi-million pound building have urged past pupils to contribute memories for an online time capsule.

Ormiston Bushfield Academy will move into their state of-the-art £20.6 million development on July 9.

To mark a 50-day countdown, school chiefs today urged past staff and students to submit their memories of the old Bushfield School building, which opened in 1978.

Principal Eric Winstone, who was a PE teacher and head of house when the school opened, said: “This is certainly one of the most exciting times in the school’s history.

“But we must not forget that the old school building has played host to some fantastic memories since 1978. We want to give both buildings the celebrations they deserve.”

They have urged people to contribute by adding #bushfieldmemories or @Obapeterboroughon to Tweets, writing on the ‘Ormiston Bushfield Academy Alumni’ Facebook page and sending emails to memories@ bushfield.co.uk.

Mr Winstone added: “I am very much looking forward to seeing the memories on Twitter and welcoming some of the first students back for the next greatest moment – the opening of the new academy.”

The 10 greatest moments will then be revealed over the 10 days leading up to the official handover.

Pupils from 1978 can sign up to attending July’s opening ceremony and be the first members of the public to tour the new building.

To apply, send an email to Maureen.roberts@bushfield.co.uk.
