Hospice fashion date

WOMEN looking to update their wardrobe without spending High Street prices are being urged to look to a Peterborough charity.

Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice is staging its annual Glamour Galore event, which will include a special swishing area where bargain hunters can trade in their no longer worn clothes and accessories.

For a fee of £2 up to five items of good quality clothes, shoes, bags or accessories can be swapped, and for every item dropped off, one replacement item may be taken. The swishing will start at noon but items should be dropped off between 10am and 11.30am.

The event will take place at the city’s Marriott hotel on May 27.

A spokeswoman said: “It is a girlie shopping extravaganza which includes fashion, jewellery, hair displays, pampering and advice.

“John Lewis will show the latest fashions and their own stylist will give personal consultations in return for donations to the charity.”

Visitors will be tempted from around 40 boutique stalls with many exclusive goods for the summer season. There will also be a Sweets and Treats station and a chance to rest during demonstrations of flower arranging, table setting and Zumba.

The event lasts from 10am to 4.30pm and tickets are priced at £5 which includes an arrival drink and goody bag for all who pre-register.

To register your interest, email with the names of all guests to Thorpe.fundraising@sueryder.org. For more information, call 01733 330060.
