Card shop set to shut down soon
THE branch of Clinton Cards in Queensgate Shopping Centre is due to close down this summer.
Signs for a clearance sale have been put up at the store and staff confirmed yesterday that they have been told the shop will shut.
The firm has more than 750 stores nationwide. It went into administration earlier this month after accumulating losses of more than £130 million since 2004. Hundreds of their shops nationwide are expected to close in the next two months.
Administrator Zolfo Cooper was unable to say what would happen to the staff employed at the Queensgate store.
Peter Saville, joint administrator and partner at Zolfo Cooper, said: “We are fully aware of the impact these closures will have.
“We would like to thank all employees for their professionalism and dedication during this difficult time.”
Neither the administrators nor staff from the Clinton Cards shops in Bridge Street or Serpentine Green Shopping Centre would confirm whether their branches will stay open.
