Man dies in hospital two days after attack
Ayoung man died in hospital on Christmas Day following an incident at a house in Spalding in which he sustained a head injury. Police and ambulance medics were called out to the property in Winsover Road at about 1.15pm on December 23.
Thevictim, whowasnamed as Martins Lipsis, a 21- year- old Latvian man, wastreated at the scenebeforebeingtakenbyambulance to Pilgrim Hospital, in Boston.
Five men aged 19, 20, 22, 26 and 28 plus a woman aged 28, all of whomlivelocally, werearrested at thesceneonsuspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
They were subsequently interviewed by officers and later released onpolicebail to return to Spalding Police Station on January 28.
Mr Lipsis, of Broad Street, Spalding, died in the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston on Christmas day.
Last week a post mortem was carried out on Mr Lipsis by a Home Office pathologist.
It revealed that Mr Lipsis had died as a result of a head injury and his death is being treated by police as suspicious.
Awitness, living close to the incident, said: “I sawtwopolice vans, three cars and about six to eight police officers outside theendhousenearMasquerade bridal shop on Sunday at about 1.45pm.
“Then on Monday morning at 8am there was still one police car there and two offic- ers guarding the side gate entrance.”
