New bosses want to go on a roll, not have a stroll for the rest of the season

-

Joint bosses Darren Jarvis and Mike Goode have set their sights on opening their NorthernStar points account in their first homematchatthehelmof the city club against Shepshed Dynamo.

The new managerial duo have suffered back- to- back defeats on the road in their first two matches following a December move from United Counties League Premier Division rivals Blackstones.

Jarvis insists the two men are learning plenty of valuable information about the squad they inherited. but they also want results as Star chase a third successive top- 1o finish.

“We are not writing off this season in the slightest,” said Jarvis. “It is not just about settling into the job and assessing the squad.

“We want to do much more thanthatandwehaveafirmtarget of getting into the top half of the table. That means we need to get into the habit of picking uppoints. Twodefeats certainly hasn’t been the ideal start to our reign but we see Saturday as the perfect time to start winning games.

“It’s our first home game in charge and it would be good to end it in possession of our first three points as managers of Northern Star.

“Shepshed are a handy side but there is no doubt in my mind they are beatable.

“Weneedsevenoreight- outof- 10performancesrightacross the board though and I’m sure we’ll get that.”

Left- back Scott Woods is to return to Star as a short- term signing.

Woods helped the club win promotionbackin2009/ 10 and will operate in a position where Star lack a specialist player.

Woods is the third signing of the newStareraaftercentreback LukeHunningsandwinger Aaron Greene.

Jarvis and Goode are likely to makeanotherraidonformer club Blackstones once the required 28 days have passed following Hunnings’ switch.
