Perkins Engines unveils Tana as newpresident
Engineering giant makes major appointments
Engineering may still be considered a man’s world, but that hasn’t stopped Peterborough- based Perkins Engines appointing a womanpresident.
Tana Utley, who has just relocated to Peterborough in order to take up her new role, joins Perkins from Caterpillar’s product development and global technology division.
At Caterpillar she was vice president and chief technology officer.
Tana earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Bradley University and a masters in management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management.
She is the recipient of the Suzanne Jenniches Upward Mobility Award from the Society of Women Engineers, and an honorary Doctor of Tech-- nology degree from Loughbor-ough University.
Last week Tana was recognised in the US as one of 122 women who have demonstrat- ed excellence and leadership in their careers.
The first Women in Manufacturing STEP ( Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Awards are part of an initiative to promote the role of women in the manufacturing industry.
Also joining Perkins is Paul Wroblewski, who replaces Jim Berry as general manager for medium engines ( three litre to seven litre product lines).
He took up his position on February 1.
Paul joins Perkins from Caterpillar’s Large Power Systems Division, where he is currently general manager of the Mossville Engine Centre.
He will bring his extensive experience, knowledge of the global engine business and supply chain to his new role at Perkins, in addition to an acute focus on the customer.
