Great Scott leads a Nene Valley double success

Aaron Scott spreadeagl­ed the competitio­n in the latest round of the Frostbite Friendly League at Bourne Race.

The Nene Valley Harrier finished the 5 mile race over a minute clear of the 342- strong field to help his club to a comfortabl­e winin the team event as well.

In fact it was a double success for the crack city club as they also dominated the junior race thanks to a race win for Bradley Spurdens and top 10 finishes for DanLornie, Lucas Fidler and Bradley Allen

Second to Scott in the senior race was Paul Vernon of PACTRAC with Michael Moore of Nene Valley in third.

Scott’s time of 27.09 was 65 seconds faster than Vernon and just under two minutes better than Moore.

Nene Valley also saw strong runs from Nick Grimer ( 8th) and Tom Rodgers ( 10th).

The city club won the senior team race by 90 points a head of Hunts AC, butthelatt­er still lead the overall stand- ings.

Nene Valley beat Hunts AC by 13 points in the junior race and also lead the over all standings by four points from the same club.

Juniors - 1 Spurden 10.12, 5 Ward 10.56, 6 Dan Lornie ( NVH) 11.01, 8 Fidler ( NVH) 11.03, 9 Allen 11.05.

Standings: Seniors - 1 Hunts AC 74- ts, Nene Valley 71, Cambridge & Coleridge 67.

Juniors - 1 Nene Valley 73, 2 Hunts AC 69, 3 Riverside 66.
