The girl’s mother said the incident had a big impact on her daughter’s life. Her mother said: “I don’t know whether it is because of this, but her school work has been affected. She has been having nightmares, and is still not opening up to me about everything that has happened. “Weare currently arranging for her to get counselling to help her. Her school has been helping her with that. The police have been very helpful, and the officer whohas been dealing with the case has kept us up to date with what was happening, and was always concerned about her. “She is a lot more wary of people now, and won’t go out alone. I have always told her not to accept people as friends on Facebook who she did not know, as you do not know who they are. Weare all distraught about what has happened. Wetry not to talk about it, but we know we have to. Before he was put on remand my daughter was always looking over her shoulder. “I am now always texting her when she is out, and get worried if she is one minute late back.” Since the incident came to light, the girl’s mother said she is relieved that her daughter was not completely alone with Mohammed. She said: “I amjust glad they never went round to his house alone, and stayed together. I don’t know what would have happened if they had gone there alone.” Along with offences against two girls, Mohammed admitted sexual activity with a child, relating to a 15- year- old girl, who he also met in a park. A Border Agency spokesman refused to say why Mohammed was allowed to stay in the UK in 2005 when he had pleaded guilty to using insulting words to two young girls in the city. The court was told at that time that he would be deported after the case. The Border Agency spokesman confirmed he had been given legal rights to stay in the country after the 2005 case but told the Peterborough Telegraph the agency would not comment on why Mohammed had been allowed to stay.
