PODS’ latest show hits the target
Peterborough Operatic and Dramatic Society ( PODS) presents a high energy, gun slinging, rip- roaring show for all the family this month.
Annie Get Your Gun runs at the Key Theatre from March 18 to 24.
Annie Get Your Gun is a fictionalised version of the life of Annie Oakley ( 1860– 1926), a sharpshooter who starred in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, and her romance with rival gunslinger Frank Butler.
With lyrics and music by Irving Berlin, the show includes some of musical theatre’s best loved numbers, including ‘ Doin’ What Comes Naturally’, ‘ Anything You Can Do’ and ‘ There’s No Business Like Show Business’.
And PODS will no doubt do it justice. The group is celebrating after being told by their NODA ( National Operatic and Dramatic Society) representative that they have been nominated for Best Musical in the area for their production from last year Hot
Tickets £ 15 each, or book 10 tickets for any performance( s) and pay £ 13 each
Mikado.
Annie Get Your Gun is directed by Rob Bristow with musical direction by Mark Checkley and choreography by Holly Brown.
The principal roles of Annie Oakley and Frank Butler are taken by Emma Dean and Glen Whitmore respectively.
Other prominent roles include Charlie Davenport ( Phil Booty), Chief Sitting Bull ( Adam Dudley), Dolly Tate (Leitina Reuben- Travers), ColonelWilliam F. Cody a. k. a. Buffalo Bill ( Neil Burton) and Major Gordon Lillie a. k. a Pawnee Bill – ( Alex Broadfield).
Evening performances ( 7.30pm) are being held from Monday, March 18, to Saturday, March 23.
There are also two matinee performances on March23/24 at 2.30pm
