Five year ASBO for public menace with disregard for law
An anti-social nuisance who has caused misery to shoppers and businesses in Peterborough has been given a five year ASBO.
Yasmin Khan (38) was given the order at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court to prevent her from stealing, being drunk or working as a prostitute in the city.
She had previously been given a similar order in 2012, which lasted two years.
Khan, of no fixed abode, has previously been described by police as one of Peterborough’s ‘most prolific prostitutes,’ and has served a number of prison sentences for a variety of offences.
If she breaches the latest order, she could face a prison term of up to five years.
PC Chris Baker said: “This ASBO has been issued as a result of her offending behaviour and complete disregard for the law and any members of the public.
“We hope this will protect the public and the retailers within Peterborough.”
The ASBO prevents Khan from entering a specified area of Peterborough, including part of Lincoln Road, Burghley Road and Granville Street between 7pm and 7am, unless travelling directly to or from her place of abode.
She is banned from acting in an anti-social manner, being drunk or having an ‘open vessel containing alcohol’ anywhere in the Peterborough City Council boundaries, or loitering in any public place for the purposes of prostitution anywhere in England or Wales.
