At Stanground Academy 96 per cent of pupils achieved two or more A-level passes, while 87 per cent achieved three more passes. There was an overall pass rate of 99.4 per cent The school saw 23 per cent of grades at A* and A, and 45 per cent of scores at B or above. Ged Rae, principal, said: “We are delighted with this excellent set of results which rewards the hard work and commitment of our ambitious students and staff. “The academy continues to make rapid progress and these results demonstrate significant year on year improvements in both academic and vocational performance. “In the coming year we are determined to further improve our outcomes as we strive to become the outstanding academy our community deserves. “I would like to congratulate our students on their successes, thank them for their contribution to Stanground Academy and wish them well in their future careers.” Many students achieved top scores, with Nikki Francis achieving an A* in physics and A grades in biology, chemistry, mathematics and further mathematics. She is going to study medicine at the University of Nottingham. Aileen Crosbie who has achieved an A* in general studies, A grades in history, philosophy and a B in geography. Jacob Tompsett who has scored A grades in further mathematics and general studies and B grades in biology mathematics and physics. Harriett Smith who has achieved A grades in history and psychology and B grades in biology and general studies. Whilst studying she has also raised a significant sum of money for charity by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro as part of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and was nominated for ‘Cambridgeshire Young Person of the Year’. Emily Mescall who has achieved A grades in philosophy and the extended project and B grades in English and performing arts and Chloe Pavey who has achieved A grades in philosophy and PE, a B in history and a C in general studies.
