A Henman highlight for young Lee

-

Peterborough’s Ho Yin Ethan Lee insists he will never forget his outing at the famous All England Club after starring in front of former British number one Tim Henman.

The 12-year-old Hampton College pupil won himself a chance to play on the SW19 courts as part of the HSBC Road to Wimbledon National Under 14 Challenge Finals.

Some 20,000 promising young tennis players from all over Britain set out in pursuit of winning a place in the national finals and Lee was one of 144 boys and girls to book themselves a spot after coming through county finals.

He won one group match before being knocked out in the second round of the boys consolation event but admitted his outing was certainly the highlight of his summer.

“It was my first time playing at Wimbledon and it was awesome. And of course it was brilliant to meet Tim Henman,” said the young member of the Virgin Active Club at Thorpe Wood.

HSBC tournament ambas- sador Henman spent time with the players, signed autographs and posed for photos.

“I’ve been involved for the 12 years of the programme, and it’s fantastic to see how the standard has improved,” said Henman, who achieved four semi-final finishes at Wimbledon before retiring in 2007.
