It certainly wasn’t all plain sailing for those fishing the JVAC match on the Yew Lake at Decoy.

Quite a few of the field found bites hard to come by until the final hour although match-winner Jay Richardson caught right from the off finishing with a respectabl­e 101lb 15oz.

Drawn on peg 15 in the top corner, he fished a pole and paste approach over micro pellet, netting carp to double figures.

Runner- up was Gus Gausden with 80lb 13oz, again pole and paste the most productive approach, while Chris Saunders came in third with 77lb 15oz. OVER 55s In the latest Over 55s match fished on the productive Six Island Pool, Vince Hull on peg 24 caught steadily from the off to pole fished meat and corn over pellet feed in the margins.

He also had a productive swim towards the corner of the lake at 10 metres netting carp to double figures to finish with an impressive 164lb 11oz.

Next door at 25 the inform Kevin Peacock could not keep up, but managed second spot with 132lb 4oz to similar tactics.

Third was Gus Gausden from peg 17 with 128lb 4oz. SATURDAY OPEN The Beastie Lake produced a cracking result for those fishing the Saturday Open.

Ben Townsend r e - turned to form with an emphatic win from peg 26. He fished a pole to the short island with luncheon meat, occasional­ly switching to a worm hook bait, catching steadily all day to return a match winning 216lb 2oz.

Lee Marlow came second on 202lb 2oz followed by Simon Godfrey with 188lb 9oz. ALLSORTS In-form Paul Dotchin made it two wins in a row in the Allsorts match on the Oak Pool at Decoy.

He started on the feeder taking two good specimens but the switch to meat fished close in proved decisive as fish after fish came to the net to see him finish well clear on 131lb 1oz.

Second was Jamie Bird, who caught on pellet up in the water and in the margins late on with meat to record 96lb 13oz. Third on 68lb 5oz was Bob Malton.
