Jimmy Greaves’ terrible perm and the day a lump of snow earned John Wile’s team a replay

-

Staines away in 2007 was a great day out. That’s what the early rounds of the FA Cup should be about.

@xAnders50nx Winning 1-0 at Notts County (who won promotion to the old Division One at the end of that season) in 1981 with a Robbie Cooke goal is my favourite Posh FA Cup memory.

@alanposh When we lost 1-0 away to Dagenham in 1984. A terrace wall collapsed, there was a delay in play, and we then only played 86 minutes. Manager John Wile was not happy! On Match of the Day Wile said: “You’d be accused of sour grapes if you said anything,” and then started to moan about it!

@wareen72

Jimmy Greaves sported a thread- bare perm he quite possibly borrowed from a geriatric l ady i n a Margate care-home when he played for Barnet against Posh in 1977.

@Paul_Cyclops Man City at home in 1981. There was a 27,000-plus crowd to see Posh lose 1-0. Brighton at home in 1986 when a lump of snow earned us an exciting 2-2 draw! Errington Kelly’s shot was going nowhere until it deflected in off the snow. And in 1988 away to Gillingham. We were 2-0 up and then 3-2 down before Dave Longhurst equalised with his hat-trick goal in the 87th minute.

@Edgaralanpoe48 A 2-0 win over Cambridge at the Abbey Stadium in 1984. Errington Kelly scored both goals in the first meeting between the sides for five or six years.

@Keenan69Ray I must be only person not to see Posh beat Arsenal in 1965 as I had to play for the Posh A team away to Warboys, Every other game in the area was postponed, but Posh refused!

@john6anderson How can you top beating the Cobblers 4-0 in 1994?
