WESTLEY’S UP FOR THE CUP
Posh boss Graham Westley loves the FA Cup and he’s determined to take his team on a long run in the competition. Westley has good form in the world’s greatest knockout football competition from his days as Stevenage manager.
And there’s nothing he would like more than leading Posh into a glamorous tie later in the season.
Posh set off on t hat road with a tough first round tie at Burton Albion on Saturday, the team currently second in League One.
Westley said: “I love the FA Cup and I’ve had some great days and nights in the competition as a manager.
“I’ ve taken Stevenage into games against New- castle and Everton and I left the club just before they playeed Spurs.
“We even managed to beat Newcastle so there is no doubt that the FA Cup can deliver some incredible highs.
“We have a very tough first round game at Burton to negotiate first and that’s where all our focus is at the moment.
“But we will go there full of confidence and we will be going there to win the game at the first attempt.
“I’m a great believer that the FA Cup suits adventurous sides. And we may not be a lot of things just yet, but we are certainly already brave, positive and adventurous.
“It’s a tie that we are all looking forward to.”
On-loan central defender Alex Davey could be recalled to the starting line-up for the first time since the 2-1 League One defeat at Southend on September 5, the last game under the management of Dave Robertson.
Davey extended his contract at Premier League Chelsea earlier this week.
The draw for the second round of the FA Cup takes place on Monday (November 9, 7.15pm).
