Tasker beats the champion

The Whittlesey Triathlon Club ( WiTri) hosted an Eastern Regional Junior League event at the Manor Leisure Centre on Saturday.

There were two outstandin­g performanc­es by Peterborou­gh Triathlon Club (PACTRAC) members.

Connor Walker continued his good form to finish third in a quality field in the Tristar Boys 2 race while Katie Tasker beat the current regional champion by 0.3 seconds to win the Tristar 3 Girls.

The Whittlesey Novice Triathlon held at the same time was won by Chris Jones from Ipswich with Laura Conway from Eye Community Runners the leading lady finisher.

Nicola Goy of PACTRAC was second lady and first in her age group.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSH­IPS

The National Standard Distance Triathlon Championsh­ips( swim 1500m, bike 25 miles, run 6.25 miles) were held at Liverpool at the weekend. PACT R AC results were: 282 Aaron Godden 2:22:34 (age group 35); 358 Andrea Robinett 2:25:54 (age group 10); 395 Steve Hope2:28:13 (agegroup15).

Mark Wether sby chose to compete in the accompanyi­ng sprint race and finished an impressive fourth overall, having already won the Cardiff Sprint Triathlon outright, earlier in theyear.

Mark was pipped by one second into third spot, losing out on the sprint finish. He clocked 1:10:46 andwas second in his age group.

Nathan Tweedie raced in the Elite section and finished 16th in 57:40.

He had a great swim and was fifth away on the bike.
