City’s largest jobs fair returns

Jobseekers in Peterborou­gh have a fantastic opportunit­y to apply for a wide range of jobs next week thanks to a forthcomin­g jobs fair.

The Department for Work and Pensions and Tackling Work les sn es sin Peterbo-rough(TWIP) are hosting their annual jobs fair knownas‘ Recruit 2016’ on Thursday, September 8 from 10am to 3pm at Peterborou­gh Town Hall.

With over 30 stands the event will include hundreds of vacancies from the retail, administra­tion, care, customer service and warehousin­g sectors. Companies attending include Serco, the Royal Mail, Cross Keys Homes, Peterborou­gh City Council, B&Q, Argos and TSS.

The event is being sponsored by the Department for Work and Pension sand Cross Keys Homes, and is hoping to help many find work or training opportunit­ies.

Job hunters will be able to meet local employers on the day, find out what support and training opportunit­ies are available in the city as well as browse real jobs quickly and convenient­ly. Attendees are therefore strongly encouraged to bring their CVs and dress smart. Work Coaches from Jobcentrep­lus will also be available throughout the event to provide support.

There will also be a ‘Beat the Barriers’ interactiv­e zone where jobseekers can find out and get support to tackle their barriers to employment such as low confidence, lack of computer skills and consider different ideas such as selfemploy­ment.

Sarah Blackledge, Employer Engagement Manager at Peterborou­gh Jobcentrep­lus said: “We will have a great selection of full time, part time, temporary and permanent position son offer and hope that many people who are looking for work will come along to see what real opportunit­ies are available in Peterborou­gh and make the most of what promises to be a great onestop careers fair covering all job hunters’ needs and aspiration­s.”

Tackling Worklessne­ss in Peterborou­gh (TWIP) is a local group which incorporat­es Jobcentrep­lus, Peterborou­gh Regional College, City College Peterborou­gh, Peterborou­gh City Council, Peterborou­gh Workspace and Opportunit­y Peterborou­gh as well as many other local companies and organisati­ons and isled by Cross Keys Homes housing associatio­n.
