Ian Palmer and Steve Cranfield joined Star and Leicester club rowers Chris Callow and David Smith in a composite crew taking part in the Mas- ters B coxless quad event.

And after a superb win by three lengths in the semi-final against Thames Rowing Club, the oar-some foursome defeated Upper Thames Rowing Club by two feet on their home water.

This result was something of a turn-up as Upper Thames had recorded a semi-final time eight seconds faster than their final conquerors.

City’s own Masters E coxless quad of Graham Barks, Jim Burt, Jack Ward and Steve Tuck reached their final, but were beaten by a strong Norwich quad.

City had beaten Henley Rowing Club by four lengths in their semi-final.

City were also represented by two lady crews at Henley.

The Masters C eight of Helen Wallace, Bridge Lloyd, Emma Richardson, Gemma Singleton, Caroline Calver, Tina Allen, Gail Parker, Hayley Marsters and cox Hannah Parker missed out on a semifinal berth by one and three quarter lengths, to the crew that went on to win the event.

Anita Carter and Joan Heath took part in the Masters E double scull event and were beaten in the semi-final by a composite crew from Dart Totnes and Exeter Rowing Club who also went on to win the event. The featured YouTube Livestream match showed Court Jesters strengthen their lead at the top of the Jet Wednesday League with victory over closest challengers Court Snapbacks.

Snapbacks shot ino an early 4-2 lead, but the Jesters came straight back by winning three frames in a row.

Snapbackssnappedback to lead 6-5 through Liam Ayres and a ‘break and dish’ from Sam Boome, but Jesters showed their pedigree under pressure by taking the last four frames with Mick Defraine confirming the team win in the 14th.

PSL Aint Going Down confirmed their fourth win in a row when Rob Mills pinched a 15th frame decider against Court Gimme A Break.

Bottom of the table Court At The Bar ended a run of four straight losses when they beat Parkway.

In a match of many fluctuations Michael Harrison claimed the all-important 14th frame for the home side.

John Roe and Gareth Mears were among the frame winners for the Parkway team.

Postie Pats secured just a third win of the season after a great battle with Court Kids. The Posties led 5-2 early on, but three frame wins in a row from Ivan Knight, Joe Haywood and Ben Prowen tied the match up.

But Patch Hensey, Kev Pike and Martyn Allen took three out of the last five frames for the Posties to seal victory.

The featured YouTube Live-stream match in the Stanground Carpets and Flooring Thursday League was another top of the table affair between Court Gold and Cross Keys Silver.

The match went all the way to a last frame decider which Mick Defraine won for Cross Keys against Andy Bunton.

Sam Boome and Joel Scott both delivered a ‘break and dish’ for Gold who hold on to top spot from the Silver team

Heron Warlords were comfortable winners over Bluebell R Back to move up to fourth. Dee Coogan secured the win in the 11th frame.

Court By The Cops won eight frames in a row to see off the Court Posties with Craig Harbisher clinching the win in frame 10.
