There’s a huge game for Newborough on Saturday as they bid to make an immediate return to Cambs League cricket. The Bulls moved back to the top of Hunts Division One last weekend thanks to a crushing 157-run win over Waresley seconds and a first defeat of the season for previous leaders Southill Park.

And it’s Southill Park who visit St Martin’s Road this weekend. Only the champions are promoted to Cambs Division Two.

Former skipper Ross Harris clubbed 104 not out for Newborough against Waresley as his side piled up 281-4 in 45 overs. Experienced pair Dave Stratton and Gareth Clingo also posted half centuries.

But Stamford Town also have their eye on the big prize. They are close up in third place following their 118-run success at Orton Park.

Runs have come easy in recent weeks for Stamford. AndyHulme(84)andBenPeck (66) did most of the damage in a 291-9 total at Orton. Stam- ford have an attractive local derby against Burghley Park this Saturday.

It’s exciting at the top and bottom of the Lincs Premier Division following wins for Bourne and Market Deeping last weekend.

Bourne toppled leaders Bracebridge Heath by threewickets in a thrilling game at the Abbey Lawns when late runs from Tom Dixon (45) and Robert Dunn (37no) proved crucial. Bourne remain third, but are just 11 points off top spot ahead of Saturday’s trip to lowly Louth.

Spalding moved off the bottom after winning by seven wickets at fellow struglers Grimsby. Jonathan Miles (539) and Faisal Javed (53no) were their star men.

That result increased the pressure on third-bottom Market Deeping who were undone by former Sri Lankan Test player Prasana Jayawardena (110) in an 11-run defeat at Woodhall Spa. Deeping skipper Dave Sargeant struck 91 in reply for Deeping.

Oundle claimed their first Burghley Park sixes crowd by thrashing Bourne in the final. Teenager Harrison Craig was named man-of-the-tournament. Oundle celebrate their first Burghley Park Sixes title.
