Who’s the Dadzie? Priscilla wins medal
Priscilla Dadzie on her way to a brilliant bronze medal in the senior girls shot at the English Schools Championships. Stanground Academy student Priscilla Dadzie was the citybased star of the prestigious English Schools Athletics Championships in Birmingham last weekend.
Dadzie claimed a brilliant bronze medal in the senior girls shot at the Alexander Stadium thanks to a personal best throw of 11.33m, 10cm better than her previous best effort in competition.
Dadzie, a member of Nene Valley Harriers, is coached by legendary British thrower Geoff Capes.
Peterborough Athletic Club were also toasting success at the championships in the form of Lewis Davey.
Davey (16), who attends Priory Ruskin Academy in Grantham, won silver in the intermediate boys 400m with a cracking run in a new personal best time of 48.52. He was beaten to gold by just .3 of a second. Lewis Davey before his second place in the intermediate 400m.
Davey was running to form as he started the weekend as number two in the event in the UK.
Otherwise it was a string of hard luck stories for the athletes from city clubs.
Three Nene Valley Harriers representing Lincs, William Hughes, Ronan Rawlins and Freddie Fraser all just missed out on medals.
Hughes, a bronze and silver medallist in previous championships, finished fourth in the intermnediate boys 200m in a time of 22.39, just 0.1 off third place. Ronan Rawlins (9, light blue vest) sets off in the intermediate boys 100m final. He finished fifth.
Rawlins finished a creditable fifth in the intermediate boys 100m final and Fraser was fifth in a top-class junior boys 80m hurdles final.

Lee Addison didn’t take up his place in the long jump.
