Six of the best so far against Rovers

Posh aim to maintain a perfect winning record against Tranmere in the FA Cup after the teams were paired together in the first round of this season’s competitio­n.

Posh have been drawn against Rovers on six previous occasions and have progressed each time.

Only once did Posh need a replay, in 2008 when a 90th minute strike from Aaron Mclean took a tie into extra time at Prenton Park before Craig Mackail-Smith claimed a 114th-minute winner.

Most recently Posh beat Tranmere 5-0 at London Road in a second round tie in 2013 thanks to a hat-trick from Britt Assombalon­ga and two goalsfromS­haunJeffer­s.Posh played Tranmere three times that season and beat them 13-0 on aggregate.

New chairman Darragh MacAnthony paid for Posh fans to travel to Tranmere for a second round tie in 2006.

Danny Crow scored twice as Posh came from behind to win 2-1.

Curtis Woodhouse scored a late winner - Peter Kennedy had scored early on - as Posh beat Rovers 2-1 at home in 2004, 1o minutes after Sagi Burton and Calvin Zola had been sent off for fighting, and it was 4-0 to Posh at Prenton Park in 1977 thanks to goals from John Cozens, Ernie Moss, Jack Carmichael and Tommy Robson.

Right-back Keith Bradley scored the only goal of the game when Posh beat Tranmere 1-0 in a third round tie in 1975.

This year’s first round tie will take place between November 3-6. Posh will annoumnce admission prices soon.

Posh are currently selling tickets for their Checkatrad­e Trophy tie at Cambridge United on Tuesday, November 7.

The priority points scheme has been in operation this week for an allocation of 1400 tickets. They go on general sale on Saturday (October 21).

Tickets are priced £12 for adults. Over 25o were sold on the first day of business.
