£3.2 MILLION DRUGS BUST: FIVE IN COURT
ARMED POLICE SWOOP ON HOUSE HUGE HAUL OF CANNABIS FOUND
Five people have appeared in court after drugs worth £3.2 million were found in the city.
The 314kg of cannabis was found in the back of a van, which was involved in a police pursuit, and in the loft at a home in Grange Road, Peterborough.
Three men from London and a man and a woman from Peterborough have now been charged with conspiracy to supply class B drugs.
Anthony Sinclair, (19), of Bedford Road, London, Samson Ogbeni, (26), of Colebrooke Row, London, Shahim Daryani, (29), of Storksmead Road, Edgware, Anna Manolau, (21) of Grange Road, Peterborough and Olsi Plaku, (25), of Grange Road, Peterborough all appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning.
All five faced the conspiracy to supply charge, while Ogbeni was also charged with dangerous driving. The charge relates to his driving of a Vauxhall Vivaro van on Oundle Road in Monday evening.
None of the defendants entered a plea to the charge, and there were no bail applications made.
They were all remanded into custody by District Judge Ken Sheraton until Tuesday, November 14, when they will appear at Peterborough Crown Court.
The five were arrested following an incident in Peterborough on Monday night.
Armed police were called to Beluga Close in Fletton at about 10.30pm, where residents reported officers were searching fora man in gardens on the street. A van and a police car, which were parked next to a children’s play area, were cordoned off by officers until the morning, when their investigations continued.
A sixth man, who is from London, has also been arrested in connection with the investigation. He is currently in hospital.
