Hoping to bag a Tesco cash boost

-

Age Concern Deepings is bidding to bag a massive cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.

Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – raised from carrier bag sales in Tesco stores - being awarded to local community projects. Age Concern Deepings is one of the groups on the shortlist at the Deepings store. The group is appealing for help to replace an ageing mini-bus, which is used to take elderly residents of the Deepings on shopping trips, outings and to social events. Liz Waterland, the publicity officer, said: “Our mini-buses are a lifeline for older residents, many of whom have no access to public or private transport. We hope all Tesco shoppers will vote to help us keep this vital service running.”

Voting is open throughout November and December customers cast their vote using a token given to them at the check-out in store.
