Smart way to start the weekend for dance music lovers

-

There are two big nights of music at The Solstice this weekend.

Returning to the Friday Night Sessions is Kiss FM’s Steve Smart for his monthly residency at the Northminster venue.

Steve is one of Kiss FM’s top DJs and showcases the hottest new dance music to the nation.

Steve is one of the most exciting and leading figures in UK dance music and radio, presenting across the UK on the Kiss Network.

He will be joined by resident DJ Alex Vacca and the party carries on until the early hours.

Then on Saturday the guys from NI$H present Shades of Rhythm & Ratpack at the Solstice.

NI$H are back in the building for ‘The Official Xmas Bash’ from 10pm, when your hosts for the evening in the SolGarden will be the amazing Jo G and Rayan G with very special guest Shades of Rhythm & The Ratpack. !

■ Another night of great music comes to the city tomorrow when The Lightbox on Bridge Street launches Electronic with Anthony Thornhill.

It is a new night showcasing the best electronic grooves old and new. There will be no one particular style, but more a focus on great tunes from solo producers right through to indie bands who add electronic sounds into their songs. The vibe will be relaxed to begin with and will get a little more groovy as the night goes on. Expect old classics from the likes of Massive Attack and Primal Scream right through to some modern day house and indie bands from 9pm1am. Free entry all night. Arrive early (from 6,30pm9.30pm) and there is a pop-up with Nick from Embe2Go, with everything African and Caribbean from vegan dishes to the usual winter killer... jerk!

Then, on Saturday, Eclectic Ballroom will be back doing their stuff with the best of soul, disco and funk.
