There won’t be over 64,000 at Villa Park this time!

Posh have been handed a decent draw in the third round of the FA Cup if they can topple National League Woking in their second round replay at the ABAX Stadium next Tuesday (December 12, 7.45pm).

The winners of the replay will travel to Villa Park to face Championship promotion hopefuls Aston Villa, a tie provisionally scheduled for Saturday, January 6.

The draw will rekindle magnificent memories for older Posh fans. The record crowd to watch Posh in an FA Cup tie is 64,531 for a fourth round replay at Villa Park in January, 1961 which the home side won 2-1.

Fourth Division Posh had drawn 1-1 with top-flight Villa in the original tie at London Road.

Posh have reduced ticket prices for the Woking replay. Advance tickets will cost £12 (adults), £8 (seniors over 60/ under 22s) and £3 (under 18s). On the night these prices increase to £15, £10 and £5.

Fans who travelled to Woking can claim their free admission to the replay by emailing tickets@theposh.com, by calling 01733 865674 or by popping along to the ABAX Stadium Box Office with account details or proof of purchase.

The League One trip to Fleetwood has now been moved back 24 hours to Sunday, December 17 as the home side must play an FA Cup replay at Hereford on Thursday, December 14 because of TV demands.

Posh were in Checkatrade Trophy action at home to League One rivals Southend last night (Wednesday). A match report and match reaction can be found on www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk.
