Vision to make city ‘leading world place’

Cambridges­hire and Peterborou­gh authority announces plan for city

A vision for Peterborou­gh to become a “leading place in the world to live” by 2030 has been revealed.

The Cambridges­hire and Peterborou­gh Combined Authority - which is headed by metro mayor James Palmer - also wants the region to become the UK’s “capital of innovation and productivi­ty.”

In its Cambridges­hire & Peterborou­gh 2030 Ambition the combined authority highlights that it wants the area to become “the leading place in the world to live, learn and work.”

There are five core ambitions behind this. They are:

Access to a good job within

easy reach of home

A workforce for the modern

• world founded on investment in skills and education

A high quality sustainabl­e

environmen­t

Healthy, thriving and prosperous

• communitie­s

Becoming the UK’s capital

of innovation and productivi­ty.

To kickstart this vision the authority is proposing to spend £40,000 to launch the project and fund a programme of engagement.
