Special night with Andrew Linham Jazz Orchestra
Peterborough Jazz Club welcomes The Andrew Linham Jazz Orchestra - a 17-piece contemporary big band - to The Broadway Suite this Sunday.
The band plays music from some of the great Big Bands as well as original compositions of bandleader Andrew Linham.
It is packed with great soloists with all the musicians busy working on the London jazz scene.
Andrew’s first major Big Band work The Linferno Suite - in 2013 was followed by the The Theme Music of Anarchic Animals, which his big band played to critical acclaim at the London Jazz Festival in 2015.
The band released its first CD , Weapons of Mass Distraction in 2017 which received excellent reviews. With a full and bristling pad of compositions ranging from traditional Big Band writing to funky tunes and pop power ballads, you can be sure of a fabulous evening of Big Band jazz. Music starts at 7.30pm. Doors open at 7.00pm
Punk band Ducking Punches are coming to Peterborough as part of their new album release tour.
The East Anglian four piece band will be at The Ostrich Inn in North Street on April 7 - the first date in their extensive tour of the UK. Hailing from Norwich, the band is led by vocalist and guitarist Dan Allen and they have over 1,000 shows under their belt, including a previous tour round Europe. Their tour this Spring, is hitting the road to celebrate the release of their eagerly awaited fourth album ‘Alamort’, via the Xtra Mile Recordings label.
On the same night, The Brewery Tap is hosting a charity soul night, raising funds for Sue Ryder Care at Thorpe Hall Hospice. As well as music from soul DJs Julz and Uncle Funk, there will be live music from electrifying 8-piece band, Motor City Vipers. Expect to hear recreations of Motown and Northern Soul floor-fillers.
