Integration is still issue for city
The statement made on the radio by a Peterborough Councillor (I missed his name) concerning the £52 million given by the government to help integration of immigrants within our city.
I was staggered by his
statement. He said that the “immigrants were already well integrated into Peterborough” and qualified it by saying, “with Polish and Eastern European shops that have opened along our streets”.
Presumably, he thinks we do not need the money for this purpose.
I do believe this councillor needs briefing on other communities of our city, in which it is against their culture to educate women, and not allow them to learn our language so they may not integrate and
therefore not able to work or socialise with the ones that do speak it.
Is our council taking the easy way out again by ignoring the real problem on this subject? Peter Hammond Werrington Peterborough
