Railway station car park to close for resurfacing works

-

A car park at Peterborough Railway Station will be closed until November for resurfacing works which will also create more parking spaces.

The car park at Mayor’s Walk will shut on Friday (August 17), and will not reopen until the beginning of November, with passengers urged to use other railway car parks until it re-opens.

A spokesman for London North East Railway (LNER), who run the car park, apologised for the disruption the works will cause.

He said: “During this time, we will be installing new signage, renewing the car park surfaces and creating more car parking spaces.

“Alternative car parking will be available in the main station car park or Spittle Bank car park, to the north of the station.

“Once work is completed in the car park, there will be more spaces to park, redesigned and clearly designated walk ways, plus an improved lay-out making it easier to navigate and find spaces.”

The new junction on Bourges Boulevard turning right into the main station car park has now almost been completed - but the right turn will not be usable until early next month when the finishing touches are added.

The junction also includes a new pedestrian crossing.

Traffic cones are expected to be removed from Bourges Boulevard on Friday following the completion of the works, which began earlier this year.
