DICTE- CRIME REPORTER: SEASON 3 Acorn, cert 15 DVD 2-disc set £24.99

This is the crime show that thawed the usually glacial Scandi-noir drama, by having a warm and funny heroine with a life and friends, rather than a loner tracking killers across snowy wastelands. Dicte (Iben Hjejle - pictured) is a nosy Danish newshound and thousands of More4 viewers are gutted this is the final season. But, it’s a cracker. Dicte has just got married to freelance photographer Bo (Dar Salim) and they and her daughter Rose are living in her home town where she plans to write a book. But, all that joy couldn’t last, and just a day after the wedding Bo sets off on assignment to Lebanon where his car is rammed and he’s taken hostage by a terror group. Dodgy place Lebanon! Dicte’s facing desperate efforts to scrape a ransom together when her father reluctantly stumps up the cash, and she sets off on a rescue mission with her good friend Detective Wagner who has agreed to be her negotiator. I don’t want to give anything away, but this ends in a personal disaster, and there’s drama, murder, blackmail and unexpected twists across all five cases. If you want to treat yourself - or somebody else - there’s a superb boxset of all three series on six discs for £39.99. Check out great TV boxsets at acorndvd.com What is Dicte’s nationality?
