Care home workers’ efforts rewarded

-

Four members of the care teams at Abbeygate Care Homes’ Moulton and Crowland sites have earned praise after achieving a Senior Development Award, following a course they attended over a six month period.

The staff, Charlotte Snell, Karen Frost, Tracy Williamson and Laura Hatfield - from the homes in North Street, Crowland, and High Street, Moulton – covered subjects including safeguarding, mental capacity, deprivation of liberty anddemonstratingleadership skills.

Each was required to produce a project that was relevant to the care home and implement it in order to evidence their learning.

Charlotte, Karen, Tracy and Laura were chosen to attend the course based on their ability, understanding and desire to achieve so they could further their knowledge within the industry, and following successful completion of the Senior Development Awards, three of them have had internal promotion to deputy managers.

Chief executive Ian Canham said: “We are really proud of the girls and their willingness to invest in their own personal development is beginning to pay dividends.

“Abbeygate has always invested in internal staff development right from its formation.

“These girls are a testament to that ethos and follow on from many others including our current two home managers; the process does not stop there as we look forward to them continuing to develop alongside Abbeygate as well as working with the next group of employees who will journey along the same path.”

He added: “Abbeygate retirement homes are small and intimate, designed to offer a homely feel to put residents at ease, with modern facilities run by highly trained, qualified and friendly staff.

“Our focus is on the individual to provide a personal level of care to residents whilst offering support to their families, along with the professional care and attention given by the doctors and community nurses.”
