A long established car repair company in Peterborough is creating jobs with a £1 million expansion.

JHuggins&Sons, whichtrades as National Windscreens, has opened the 23,600 sq ft warehouse in in Wainman Road, in Woodston.

Thirty jobs have been created as a result of the expansion.

The family run company, which has its headquarters in Carr Road, Peterborough, has almost trebled in size over the last six years with turnover hitting £15 million.

The warehouse, which includes a 20,000 sq ft mezzanine, will provide valuable extra storage space for the firm.

It will provide specialist racking and storage for thousands of varieties of windscreens for most vehicles.

There are often between five and 10 windscreens available for any vehicle.

Keith Huggins, managing director, said: “Peterborough is so well served for excellent road links for onward distribution.

“We began as a family firm here and wanted additional depot premises in the city.

“I’m told our new premises represent a rare freehold opportunity in an active industrial property market.”

Pete Marsden, managing director of National Windscreens, said: “A combination of significant market growth and the development of windscreen and technology means we need more storage for glass replacement parts.”

The company was created in 1927 and has been run by three generations of the Huggins’ family.

The sale was overseen by commercial agents Barker Storey Matthews.
