Deeping hope to dazzle Diamonds in the FA Cup
Deeping Rangers represent the local United Counties League clubs in the FA Cup on Saturday and their reward for a win over Holbeach United in the last round is a cracker of a contest against AFC Rushden & Diamonds at the Haydon Whitham Stadium (3pm).
Higher level Diamonds are one of the best supported clubs in the region so a bumper crowd is expected for the preliminary round tie.
Deeping are going well in the UCL, although they required a late header from skipper David BurtonJones to secure a 1-1 draw at Desborough and preserve their unbeaten record last weekend.
Pinchbeck are also unbeaten and they were thrilled a side weakened by suspensions were able to beat a gifted Leicester Nirvana side 1-0.
Player-manager Ian Dunn scored the only goal of the game.
Premier Division performance of the week was delivered by Peterborough Northern Star who ended a run of three defeats in all competitions with a 5-0 thumping of Rothwell Corinthians away from home.
Star of the show was young right-back Lukas Gereltauskas who scored twice on his debut. Josh Rosser, James Hill-Seekings and Corey Kingston also netted for Star who are without a fixture this weekend as the Premier Division takes a break.
Bourne are in action in Division One at home to Birstall, but Blackstones will have to wait until Tuesday (August 28) to try and extend their winning streak to four games when they travel to Anstey Nomads. An own goal sealed a 1-0 win over Burton Park Wanderers last weekend.
