Almost 40 per cent of pupils at St John Fisher achieved a Grade 4 or above in English and maths, the equivalent of the old C grade. According to the school initial analysis suggests that its progress measure will again be above national which would be the third year in a row. Just under half of the pupils achieved five of more passes at Grade 4 and above, and more than a fifth achieved nine or more passes at this level. The top performing pupil was Wanessa Zerella who achieved three 9s, six 8s, a 6 and a 5. Headteacher Sean Hayes said: “I would like to congratulate all of our students on their results today. The new courses have been challenging with much more content to be learnt and many more exams to be taken. “However, despite having a year group with lower prior attainment from primary school our overall results appear to be in line with previous years. This is a testament to the mature way in which the students approached the demands of the new exams and to the dedication and support they received from their teachers.”
