Peace at last for local residents

-

I would like to share with you some recent developments in regards to the situation with the former Red Cross Cabin/ Boxing Gym located on Brassey Close, in New England .

On Wednesday last week , I noticed that the site - a hotspot for fly-tipping behind the Great Northern Cottages had been fenced off and the trees around the building has been trimmed back to make clearance for the next step demolishing the buildings and ending nearby residents’ nightmare.

The problem site will be replaced by new apartments, converting this very bad drug dealing, prostitution and flytipping area into a clean and most welcoming housing area.

Local residents and I have been reporting the unsafe, to the point of very dangerous, issues, like fly-tipping, drug dealing and more.

The workers on site told me that the amount of syringes is un-countable, that the PCC had cleaned up what was clearly visible, but did not go within the hedges and inside the buildings, which will be pulled down this week - “evicting” those who have used it as shelter.

This has been an on-going nightmare for the nearby neighbours who witness crimes occur daily.
