Singles Club are back in town head for The Met
The Ouse Valley Singles Club are back and ready to take on The Met Lounge on September 28.
If you aren’t familiar with the band you are in for a treat!
Describing their genre as ‘The Clash meets George Formby Punk Skiffle trio with a Music Hall twist’, you’ll laugh so hard you’ll get a wet penny patch!’ this band is serious about making music fun.
Hailing from the historical market town of Bedford
The OVSC are
Tim Barron (Compere/ Vocalist/ Ukulele), Amy Martell (vocals/ Bass) Uncle Sam(vocals/ toasting/ Washboard, Jim Morton(Snare) and sometimes member Neil Whittington (guitar).
They have gigged almost every weekend over the last two years honing their craft and cementing their place as East Anglia’s Number 1 comedy Skiffle band, building a massive following of loyal fans as they go.
Heavily influenced by the sounds and traditions of 1950s Skiffle, they combine this long forgotten genre with the energy of punk, whilst occasionally dropping some rub ‘n’ dub reggae urban flavours into the mix, and then layering this with hilarious folk-like storytelling, often crossing the parameters of what is deemed to be politically correct.
They put on a fantastic live show that gives a hysterical observational account of every day tales of woe with a razor sharp observational narrative whilst rocking the crowds with their infectious earworms at the same time.
Advance tickets are £10 and £12 on the door if available. Tickets are available online from: www.seetickets.com and physical tickets are available now from the Peterborough Visitors Centre in Bridge Street.
Doors open at 8pm and close at 11pm. This is a replacement gig for one previously booked at The Broadway.
If you like what you hear you can watch the band again in Wisbech, Cambridge and Rushden.
