The Peterborough Evening Telegraph
Where do you live? Don’t ask!
When I first moved to Peterborough I was struck by the many strange street names, mostly in the New Town areas such as Bretton. Many are a single word without a road, street, lane or way, such as Deerleap and Gullymore, Stagsden and Paynels. None of these names though made it into a list I was sent of Britain’s silliest street names. Some are too rude to mention, but I think I can get away with my favourite, Crotch Crescent which is in Marston in Oxfordshire. I think it’s the alliteration that does it for me.
