The course of true love has hit a few bumps in the road for T2. He is finding he has a battle on his hands for the attention of his pre-school princess. She is as besotted with him as he is with her – she went to Portugal for a half-term family holiday and a postcard duly arrived for T2 with his love interest declaring, to his delight, that she was missing him.

The problem is she has a BFF (Best Friend Forever) who also attends the preschool.

Quizzing T2 at the breakfast table about his plans for the day, he said he hoped one girl wouldn’t be attending pre-school.

“Why, I thought she was your friend too?’’

He pulled a sad face (not the most sincere of sad faces it has to be said) and added: “She’s always budging in on me and ****** .’’

“Can’t you all play together?’ I said. “No, she gets ****** doing colouring and I want to play superheroes.’’

I’ve advised him women generally don’t find men in tights a good look!
