Ooh, you are awful

I think it is a shame that Labour councillors Matthew Mahabadi and Richard Ferris are standing down from the city council. Whatever you think of their politics they came across as dedicated people who cared for the city. In a parting shot they hit out at anti-semitism and bullying in their own party, which was duly reported by the PT. This upset some of their supporters who made noises that in fact the main reason for their departures was the ‘toxic’ atmosphere at the council caused by the ruling Tories. This was also reported by the PT but not given the same prominence. Why would it? Do bears go to the toilet in the woods? Or to put it another way – politicians not liking what their opponents say or do is not earth-shattering news. If the behaviour of the Tories is the main reason the pair stepped down, I don’t think Labour will gain control of the Town Hall any time soon.
